Released: 28th July 2026 · AMI V2 introduces the next generation of AMI agents, with web search capabilities and configurable reasoning effort.

Released: 28th July 2026

Updated: 29th July 2026

Product: AMI / Sense Automate

Who it affects: AMI users and administrators managing AMI agents

Available on: All plans

Overview

AMI V2 is now live.

Users can start using V2 agents while the existing V1 experience remains temporarily available during the transition.

AMI V2 provides the foundation for the next generation of AMI functionality, including new agent capabilities such as web search and greater control over the reasoning effort used for agent tasks.

🖊️ Important note: AMI V1 is scheduled to be retired on 30 August 2026. V1 conversations will not automatically move to V2 and will no longer be available after V1 is retired.

If you have V1 conversations you want to keep, export them from AMI chat before 30 August. We also recommend starting new conversations in AMI V2 now.

What’s new

AMI V2 agents and conversations

AMI V2 introduces a new generation of agents and conversations alongside the existing AMI experience.

To start using AMI V2, open AMI and turn on Switch to new version in the upper-right corner.

Once switched on, you can start a new conversation using the V2 experience.

V1 and V2 conversations are separate, so conversations started in V2 create a new V2 conversation history rather than continuing an existing V1 conversation.

During the transition period, you can switch back to V1 if needed.

What this means for you:

You can start using AMI V2 now by turning on Switch to new version. We recommend using V2 for new conversations so your new conversation history is created in V2 from the outset.

Web search for V2 agents

AMI V2 introduces web search capabilities for agents.

This allows supported agents to use relevant information from the web as part of their work, opening up new possibilities for agents that need access to information beyond Sense Workplace data.

This capability will also support new specialist agents, including the planned AMI Counsel agent, which will use information from ACAS to help with workplace questions and scenarios.

What this means for you:

Supported AMI agents can work with relevant web information as well as their existing tools and data, allowing them to support a wider range of tasks.

Configurable reasoning effort

AMI V2 agents can now be configured with different levels of Reasoning Effort.

The setting controls how much reasoning the agent uses before responding or taking action.

Available levels are:

  • Low — prioritises speed and efficiency. Suitable for simpler or routine tasks.

  • Medium — balances speed, quality and reliability for more involved tasks.

  • High — uses greater reasoning effort for difficult or complex tasks where quality is more important than speed.

For most use cases, start with Low or Medium and move to High where the task genuinely requires more complex reasoning.

What this means for you:

Reasoning effort can be matched more closely to the task, balancing response speed and resource use against the complexity of the work.

Moving from AMI V1 to V2

AMI V1 and V2 will be available alongside each other for a limited transition period.

Because V1 and V2 have separate conversation histories, your existing V1 conversations will not automatically move across to AMI V2.

AMI V1 is scheduled to be retired on 30 August 2026. After this date, existing V1 conversations will no longer be available.

Keep any V1 conversations you need

If you have V1 conversations you want to keep, export them from AMI chat before V1 is retired.

You can keep the exported conversation for reference or use its contents when working in AMI V2.

🖊️ Recommended: Review your existing V1 conversations before 30 August 2026 and export anything you may need in future.

We also recommend starting new conversations in AMI V2 now rather than creating additional conversation history in V1.

Fixes and reliability improvements – 29 July 2026

A follow-up update was released on 29 July with several improvements to the initial AMI V2 experience.

Improved V1 and V2 switching

The option to switch between V1 and V2 is now disabled while AMI is generating a response.

What this means for you:

This helps prevent a conversation from being interrupted by changing AMI versions while a response is still being generated.

More efficient welcome messages

AMI V2 welcome messages now use Low reasoning effort.

What this means for you:

Simple welcome messages can be generated more efficiently without using unnecessary reasoning effort.

Improved usage tracking and support for complex responses

We’ve improved how usage is recorded for generated responses and increased the capacity available for responses that require more reasoning.

What this means for you:

AMI V2 can better support complex requests and longer responses, particularly when using higher reasoning effort.

AMI V2 is now live and provides the foundation for the next generation of AMI agents.

The release introduces:

  • V2 agents and conversation history

  • Web search capabilities for supported agents

  • Configurable Low, Medium and High reasoning effort

  • Improvements to response generation and V1/V2 switching

AMI V1 remains available temporarily during the transition but is scheduled to be retired on 30 August 2026.
